State Regulations

Washington Ambulatory Surgery Center Association

In 2007, the Washington State Legislature passed a bill requiring ASCs to obtain a license from the Washington State Department of Health in order to operate in the state. The law is set forth at chapter 70.230 RCW. Effective July 1, 2009, the law also provided for onsite inspections of licensed ASCs at least every 18 months. On April 7, 2009, the Washington State Department of Health adopted rules to implement the law. These regulations are set forth at chapter 246-330 WAC.
