Legislative and Regulatory Advocacy
WASCA provides ambulatory surgery industry representation and serves as the primary point of contact for issues related to the industry. As the only ASC trade association in Washington, WASCA is available to listen to its members’ concerns and address those concerns through the appropriate channels, including legislative and regulatory advocacy. WASCA represents the interests of ASCs before legislators, regulatory agencies, payors and other organizations on issues that affect the industry. Through its lobbying staff, WASCA champion laws and regulations that support the ambulatory surgery industry and challenge laws and regulations that threaten the industry.
WASCA offers educational events on clinical, legal and operational issues relevant to the ambulatory surgery industry. Among other topics, these events address:
- Licensure, certification and accreditation
- Certificate of need
- Governance and medical staff
- Quality improvement and infection control
- Anesthesia, surgical services and recovery care
- Patient Rights
- Emergency preparedness
These events offer the opportunity to gain valuable continuing education credits and also provides a venue for learning from and collaborating with other ambulatory surgery colleagues. Members receive discounted registration fees for these educational events.
In addition, WASCA’s new member listserv provides an opportunity for ASC owners, operators and staff to learn from each other.
WASCA affords its members opportunities to actively participate in the association through service on the Board of Directors and committees and through roles in its other projects on behalf of the ambulatory surgery industry.
WASCA educational events and other forums bring ASC owners, operators and staff from across the state together in a common location, allowing these industry participants to communicate directly with their colleagues on topics of interest to the industry.
