President’s Message

Susan SimonsWASCA’s mission has not changed since its inception. Our organization continues to provide an opportunity for the ASC industry to network with one another with the goal of providing quality, cost effective healthcare for our patient population. WASCA offers its membership educational opportunities, legislative advocacy, a respected resource for legal information and guidance, assistance with operational issues, and strategic concerns.

Through the leadership of our executive director, legal counsel, lobbyist and committed members we have achieved state licensure, an increase in the number of procedures that can be done in surgery centers, transparency in reporting, and we continue to work with CMS and other payors to change ASC reimbursement methodology. A Political Action Committee (PAC) has been formed to help further our working relationship with legislators in Olympia and Washington DC.

In this time of healthcare reform, WASCA remains committed to providing our industry with the opportunity to join together and demonstrate how we can be a part of the healthcare reform solution by continuing to provide quality, cost effective care in a safe and caring environment.

It is my hope that every surgery center in Washington State joins WASCA and we continue to add key stakeholders and leaders to our team. By working together, we will continue to make a positive difference in the lives of our patients and healthcare in Washington State.
